In spring time there is much to interest the visitor. In early spring there are snowdrops, bluebells and daffodils.

In the shelter of the woods 60 different camellias
flower between January and April.

There are about 80 species of acers, some of which have  beautiful spring colours and some renowned for their autumn colours.

There are about 400 rhodododendrons which flower between February and June, with the peak being in May. Please look at the rhododendron section under "Plants" for more details.

Also in the spring, the 25 different varieties of magnolia, which thrive in the woods, start to come into flower. Again, please look at the Magnolia section for more details.


Another feature in the garden are the primula candelabra growing in the damp ditches.
